Things To Do in SLC

If you've been looking to travel out West, look no farther than beautiful Salt Lake City and the Wasatch Front, nestled among the Great Salt Lake to the northwest, the Wasatch Mountains on the east, and the Oquirrhs Mountains on the southwest. The expansive city is home to numerous influential cultural events and establishments (all just minutes from Super Ford!), including the National Museum of History of Utah, the University of Utah, Westminster College, Salt Lake Comic Con, the Utah Brazilian Festival, the Greek Festival, and the Utah Asian Festival. If you're a movie buff, then you'll also know that Sundance Film Festival, which occurs every January, is a short drive from downtown Salt Lake.

With a creek that runs through it, City Creek offers over 100 stores and restaurants including Nordstrom, Macy's, Tiffany & Co., Michael Kors, Coach, H&M, Rolex, Apple, and Bose, among others in a casual environment.

Also known as 300 South in Downtown SLC, Broadway is a quaint shopping environment featuring quirky shops plus art and photography galleries, besides some restaurants, and numerous fun events each Summer.

Around the old Union Pacific Building lies the Gateway, with outdoor shopping and dining. Its Grand Hall is a popular venue for numerous events. Find stores such as Abercrombie, Victoria's Secret, and Barnes & Noble, plus many restaurants.

Sugarhouse, one of the city's oldest and largest neighborhoods, is shock full of historical homes, a luxury movie theatre, and lively dining and shopping at Nordstrom Rack, TJ Maxx & Homegoods, Michael's, Whole Foods, among hundreds other stores.

Anchored by Dillard's, The Container Store, and Nordstrom, Fashion Place is located in Murray, which is a short drive south of SLC. There, you may also find Crate & Barrel, H&M, Apple, Fossil, Teavana, and several jewelry stores. 

Located in Park City, Tanger (pronounced "Tang•er"; rhymes with "hanger") Outlets is home to hundreds of premium outlets, including Tommy Hilfiger, Michael Kors, Gap, Nike, Calvin Klein, Coach, among many others.

ENTERTAINMENT


Kingsbury Hall is the performing arts center on the University of Utah campus. It's seen some of the world's most well-known artists, groups, world leaders, politicians, and local performing companies.

The Tavernacle Social Club has been Downtown's leading dueling piano show since the early 2000s. Guests can suggest and request songs, and even "trump" others' requests as they're being played.

Known for its outstanding acoustics and spectacular views, Abravanel Hall is the home of the Utah Symphony, where you can not only watch original acts, but also be amazed by adaptations and touring conductors.

Vivint Smart Home Arena is the largest, most high-tech arena within a five-state radius. It's not only the home of the Utah Jazz, but also the preferred location of hundreds of sellout performers each year.

Gallivan Plaza was renovated to feature an expanded grassy amphitheater, a larger ice rink system, art projects, a two-story meeting facility, performance areas of all sizes, and intimate spaces and vantage points.

Park City is the main location of the Sundance Film Festival, home of the U.S. Ski Team, training center for members of the Australian Freestyle Ski Team, the largest collection of factory outlet stores in northern Utah, the bobsled/skeleton/luge track at the Utah Olympic Park, numerous world-class resorts, golf courses, great restaurants and shops, and more.

UMFA collects, conserves, and interprets nearly 20,000 works from 5,000 years of global visual arts-from the ancient and classical world, European and American masterworks, Asian art, art of Utah and the American West, and modern and contemporary art.

The Leonardo is an art, science, and technology museum in downtown SLC. It aims to fuse these arenas in experiences that inspire creativity and innovation and is home to touring exhibits such as The Human Body, Mummies of The World, and many more each year.

The museum shows exhibits of natural history subjects (such as Birds-of-Paradise and prehistoric creatures, dinosaurs, the evolution of the Earth, and many more), specifically about Utah's natural history. The mission of the museum is to illuminate the natural world and the place of humans within it.
 

RESTAURANTS


Gourmandise has been famous for the finest assortment of European pastries & desserts in the Salt Lake Valley. Today, it's become a favorite classy-casual downtown eatery with scratch-made pastries and desserts and hearty made-to-order meals.

Tucanos meats are tastefully seasoned and cooked on skewers over open-flame grills. The skewers are then brought to your table where sizzling portions are sliced onto your plate. You'll get endless servings and will be quite satiated before long!

Conveniently located right next to the Broadway Center Theatre, a prime Sundance Film Fest location, this attractive, modest restaurant offers some of the best-quality meals, big and small, in downtown SLC.

Sawadee is one of the best Thai restaurants in Salt Lake City, with generous and delicious servings, a nice (albeit hectic) ambiance, and a friendly staff.
